Our Spaces

The Custard Factory Spaces can provide a venue for whatever brief and budget you may have. We pride ourselves on offering a unique space that is versatile and can be used for an array of functions. Over the year’s we have played host to some of the words largest brands including Google, Mars, O2, and Sony Platstation. We have hosted conference, exhibitions, weddings, private parties and an array of ad-hoc events.

Each space is unique in its offering; whether you want history and heritage or industrial and spacious, we have the perfect venue for you.

The Old Library

The Old Library is steeped in history and can be found on maps of Birmingham dating back to the 1880’s. Once one of many and now a rare breed it’s vaulted ceiling with skylights and the breathtaking beauty of its arched diamond leaded windows make this a truly mesmerising and enchanting venue. The site is an intricate blend of modern open planned space enclosed within Traditional Victorian elegance, resulting in it exuding a truly unique tranquil atmosphere.

With a span of 2500 sq ft (233 sq m), the space can easily accommodate up to 160 people for banquets or conferences with additional space for a large bar area and dance floor. For drinks receptions the space really comes into its own and can accommodate 350 people. In addition to the main room and if you’re looking for a more intimate space for meetings, then the Breakout Room can comfortably accommodate 12 people as well as making it the ideal room for buffets, cloakroom, relaxation room or reception area.

The Old library also has an entrance foyer which makes a perfect reception area and breaks up the main space from the bathroom suites.

The Outside of the Old Library has a contrasting art deco look that is unique to the Custard factory. Its raised entrance is made private by its water feature and outside gate making it the perfect private outside smoking area for guests.

Vaad Gallery

The Gallery is situated at the very heart if the Custard Factory and overlooks the central ornamental lake, making it a fascinating environment for corporate events such as cocktail parties and buffet receptions and an inspirational backdrop to workshop or seminar events. The gallery a light open airy space was specially designed for exhibition purposes and is an established haven for artists to exhibit their works in a quality environment. The space is versatile and can be transformed to meet your needs.

Space 2

Space 2 is a lovingly reformed former industrial factory that has been brought back from the depths of disrepair. With a 1200 capacity, it is the biggest area in the Custard Factory and has a fistful of original features preserved that celebrate, rather than shun its varied history.

The space lends itself effortlessly to any function, the bigger the better, as the acoustics can be fully appreciated when an event has reached its maximum decibel level. The space has played host to brand launches, gigs, conferences and exhibitions including the world renowned Bodies Revealed.

Backing onto Space 2 is the North Yard which can be acquired in conjunction with the venue and serves as the perfect place to pitch a marquee or set up a bbq. For larger productions the North Yard can be used as a parking facility…but where’s the fun in that!

The Theatre

Tremendous thought went into the design of the Theatre to ensure that it catered to as many markets as possible, appealing to event organisers and conference production companies alike. Its versatility is exemplified by the retractable screen which transforms the venue instantly from a conference friendly environment, into a theatrical space Shakespeare himself would be hard pressed to quibble with.

The Study

Within The Old Library, The Study is the perfect environment for intimate meetings for up to 30 delegates. Exhibiting many of the features of The Old Library itself, this room also benefits from a vast skylight that floods the area with natural light creating an airy atmosphere.

Gibb Street

Gibb Street
Joining all our venues is Gibb street which is enriched with the distinctive Custard Factory colour block walls, unique sculptures, boutiques, cafes and water pools. This unique space is a hive of creative energy for The Custard Factory community and creates a fantastic vibe to experience when moving between our venues or exploring during a break from an event.

Main Reception - Custard Factory

Reception
With panoramic, wall to ceiling glass for every wall this is the height of modern spatial design and in the past has been the ideal venue for networking events and receptions. Furnished with a grand piano, red lip sofas and overlooking two of the Custard Factories ornamental ponds, this space has the ‘wow’ factor in abundance and as the sun goes down and the mood lights go up the atmosphere really intensifies.

Orwell Suite

Orwell Suite
Overlooking one of The Custard Factory’s ornamental lakes the Orwell Suite is a modern space, perfect for meetings and small seminars. With comfortable leather seats and a retracting screen this light space is a perfect meeting room for groups of up to 12 delegates.
